Sorry everyone but I have been ill and then I hurt my neck so things have not been moving on very well over the last few weeks. I have managed to get most of my orders finished , so to all those peeps that have been waiting, very sorry and you swords are on there way.
I managed to get the demon head sculpt finished and it has been moulded. I hope to get the first casting out next week.
The dragon armour is starting to come together. I need to make some modifications to the abdomen piece so it fits better and matches the breast plate a little more. I also want to bring the shoulders out more, but apart from that I am pleased with how its going.
Have finaly finished the elven shortswords. Have had some problems with the foam and painting and it turned out that the foam was the wrong type. Sorted now :)
Been working on this for a while on and off. All the moulds are now good to go so I started to put it together.
The main body is cast in two pieces, the front gem shape piece is in the softest foam and the main body is a medium foam. The claws are then cast off 6 times.
I have been asked to make some masks for Fools and Heroes, the LARP organisation that I am a member of. I have not had much time but I have got this far with the Ogre sculpt. This is at about 4 hours.
Had this lying around for some years and alex liked it so we are trying to see it completed. It was something I created in my head and never new if it would work. With alex acting model it is starting to come together.
Started on the guard for my friend Alex`s sword. It is useing the same blade as the dragon sword as I dont have the time to make another ( in thruth the blade was for this sword in the first place. I just stole it for the dragon sword as well ).
This is a design my friend Paul wants to make. We are working on an idea of a split core to allow you to have a twin and split blade look to a weapon. So this will be a project that I would like to help see done.
Ok this is the first cast of the blade out of the new mould. I added the cross guard so you can see the overall look. It is almost there but the foam is a little heavy at the second. I think it is the age of the foam as it has a 6 month shelf life and I have had this kit for 6 years. I am building a heat box to warm up the moulds and the foam. I hope that will help. The blade is 400 grams and I want to get it down to 300. To be fair I am most likely being overly worried, but I dont want anyone getting knocked out by a weapon that is to heavy.
I have also got to get 3 longswords done in the next couple of weeks, before the next Fools and Heroes. So I have dug this mould out. It was from the last sword I made 6 or so years ago. I never used it after that. I am revamping it with a beautiful new blade which I will post as soon as the mould is done. These are cast in a low density flexible poly-urathane that is now used in the film industry instead of foam latex. It has slightly less density than plastizote ( what most larp weapons are made from ) but higher elastisaty, so it is less likely to rip.
The first cast out of the mould. I put the dark colour on so I can see the detail better as I put it on. It will be a bright metal finish when complet, as it looks a bit Batman in this colour.
Here is the first sculpt of the chest piece for the dragon armour set. I will now do a scratch mould so I can cast a prototype out of. The detail and finishing will be done on that before a final mould is made.
This is an old design I did about 8 years ago but just revamped. I will at some point make a helmet piece that fits it. The horns will be cast in a semi soft foam urathane to make it safe for LARP.
Here are a couple of concepts that I am working on. I am merging the 2 designs to create a suit of plate. I like the dragon design on the chest especially.
